DGFT amends the powers of Development Commissioner to act as a Registering Authority

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on August 26, 2019, has made amendment in Para 6.34(14) of Chapter 6 of Handbook of Procedure 2015-20, to amends the powers of Development Commissioner to act as a registering Authority in view of Export Promotion Council for Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and Special Economic Zones (SEZ) (EPCES) being recognized as a registering authority for EOUs.

Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate:

Function as a Registering Authority for EOU/ Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP)/ Software Technology Park (STP)/ Bio-Technology Park (BTP) unit. A separate Registration-cum-Membership Certificate shall not be required in their cases as provided for in Paragraph 2.44 of Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) except in case of spices. In case of spices, it would be mandatory for units to get themselves registered with Species Board also.

Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate:

Function as a Registering Authority for EHTP/ STP/ BTP unit. A separate Registration-cum-Membership Certificate shall not be required in their cases as provided for in Paragraph 2.55 of FTP.
