Government of Karnataka revises minimum rates of wages and VDA for the employment in Food Processing and Food Packing Industry

The State Government of Karnataka has revised the minimum rates of wages and Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for the employees employed in Food Processing, Packing of Food Products (including all Processes in Ready to Eat Products, Beverages and Spices) from April 01, 2019 to March 31, 2020.

The Categories of Employment for minimum rates of wages per day and per month are as under:

Ø  Highly Skilled: Foreman; Supervisor

Ø  Skilled: Machine Operator; Steamer operator; Boiler operator; Generator operator; Mix room operator; Freezer operator; Processing operator; Senior operator; Operator; Mechanic; Technician; Lab Technician; Electrician; Chemist; utter/ Mixer; Sweet Maker; Kova Maker; Purchaser; Store keeper and other skilled labourer

Ø  Semi-Skilled Workers: Production Assistant; Salesman; Sorter/ other semi-skilled labourer

Ø  Unskilled: Bottle filler; Packer; Cold Room Boy; Cleaning Room Boy; Powdering and Mixing; Packers; Assistant; Mazdoor; General worker; Helper; Cleaner; Loading and un-loading; Peeler

Ø  Driver/ Cleaner: Lorry driver; Car/ Jeep Driver; Lorry/ Car/ Jeep Cleaner

Ø  Office Staff: Manager/ Personal officer; Assistant Manager/ Assistant Personal Manager; Accountant; Cashier/ Senior Clerk; Stenographer/ Computer Operator; Store Keeper Telephone Operator; Typist/ Data Entry operator; Attender/ Junior operator; Attender/ Junior Clerk; Watchman/ Security Guard; Office Boy/ Sweeper/ Attender

VDA: In addition to the basic wages, all Category of Employees in the State shall be paid VDA at the rate of 4 Paise per point over and above 6205 points.
