AICTE issues public notice for prevention and prohibition of ragging

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on August 08, 2019, has issued a public notice for prevention and prohibition of ragging. In order to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the practice of ragging, all the AICTE approved institutions, students and other various stakeholders that ragging is a criminal offence are requested to take necessary steps on curbing the menace of ragging in the campus.

All the institutions shall take the following steps such as:

o Constitution of Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti Ragging Squad

o Obtaining undertakings at the time of admission and at the time of allotment of hostel

o Dedicated cadre of wardens and regular visits to hostels

o Creating awareness through regular meetings with students

o Appointing professional counselors for freshers

o Erection of poster or banners displaying provisions of law, punishments etc.

In case any institution fails to take adequate steps to prevent ragging or fails to act in accordance with these Regulations or fails to punish perpetrators for incidents of ragging suitably, AICTE shall call for punitive action.
