Government of Andhra Pradesh announces the date for commencement of Andhra Pradesh (Regulation of Trade in Indian Made Foreign Liquor, Foreign Liquor) (Amendment) Act, 2019

The State Government of Andhra Pradesh on August 20, 2019, has appoints October 01, 2019 as the date on which the provisions of Andhra Pradesh (Regulation of Trade in Indian Made Foreign Liquor, Foreign Liquor) (Amendment) Act, 2019 will come into force.

However, Andhra Pradesh (Regulation of Trade in Indian Made Foreign Liquor, Foreign Liquor) (Amendment) Act, 2019 grants exclusive right to government-owned agencies to sell liquor through shops in the state. In other words, only the State Beverages Corporation Limited or any other entity owned and controlled by the government would have the exclusive right of selling Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) through shops in the State. The amendment enables the government to regulate liquor-selling licenses to shops and bars.
