Government of Karnataka revises the minimum rates of wages and VDA for the employment in garments, costumes and tailoring establishments

The State Government of Karnataka has revised the minimum rates of wages and Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for the employment in garments, costumes and tailoring establishments with effect from April 01 to March 03, 2020. 

The minimum rates of wages have been revised for certain class of employment:

1. Highly Skilled Workers: Designer, maker doing cutting, tailor, cutter employed on designing and cutting.

2. Skilled workers: Tailor Grade-1, head cook, driver, cutting machine operator, inspector, tailor maistry, layer who does cutting and marking.

3. Semi-skilled Workers: Ironer, measurement checker, watch and ward, tailor grade-II, button hole machine, over locker machine, button and buttonhole stich.

4. Unskilled: packer, helper, dispatcher, mali, canteen worker, server, trimmer, mazdoor, layer who spreads only, tailor grade-III, any other category of unskilled worker not specified above.

5. Drivers: lorry, car, jeep drivers and cleaners

6. Office staff: Manager / Personal officer, Assistant Manager / Assistant Personal officer, Accountant, cashier, stenographer, computer operator, store keeper, typist, data entry operator, clerk.

In addition to the basic wages, all category of employees in the state will be paid V.D.A at the rate of 4 paisa per point over and above 5075 points.
