The Ministry of Road and Transport and Highways on July 24, 2019, has published a draft Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2019 to further amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. These rules will come into force on the date of its final publication in the Official Gazette.

In Rule 92 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, a new sub-rule (4) has been inserted, namely, the motor vehicles and their parts, components, assemblies, sub-assemblies etc. if affixed with microdot identifiers by the manufacturers shall comply with the requirements stipulated in standard AIS 155.

Any person likely to be affected thereby by the draft, are requested for objections or suggestions, if any, within thirty days from the date on which the copies of this notification as published in the Gazette of India, are made available to the public.
