Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Second Amendment Regulations, 2019

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on July 05, 2019, has published the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Second Amendment Regulations, 2019, to further extend the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.

Some of the major amendments in the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011 are as under:

Ø  Under Regulation 2.3 which specifies the Fruits and Vegetables Products:

a)      Sub-regulation 2.3.51 (1) (e) has been substituted;

b)      Sub-regulation 2.3.52 (1) (e) has been substituted;

Ø  Under Regulation 2.9 which specifies the Salt, Spices, Condiments and Related Product:

After sub-regulation 2.9.34, the following sub-regulation shall be inserted, namely:

a)      Sub-regulation 2.9.35: Dried Oregano

b)      Sub-regulation 2.9.36: Pimento or Allspice

c)       Sub-regulation 2.9.37: Dried Laurel or Dried Bay Leaf

d)      Sub-regulation 2.9.38: Dried Mint

e)      Sub-regulation 2.9.39: Dried Rosemary

They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette that is July 09, 2019 and Food Business Operator shall comply with all the provisions of these regulations by July 01, 2020.
