West Bengal Government specifies minimum rates of wages in the employment of malls, multiplexes, departmental stores and mega stores

The West Bengal Labour Commissioner specifies the minimum rate of wage in the employment of malls, multiplexes, departmental stores and mega stores in the State of West Bengal, which will be effective for a period from July 01, 2019 to December 31, 2019.

Unskilled

Rs. 8177.00

Rs. 7176.00

Semi-skilled

Rs. 8996.00

Rs. 7891.00

Skilled

Rs. 9895.00

Rs. 8681.00

Highly Skilled

Rs. 10884.00

Rs. 9551.00

The classification of employees is as follows:

 Unskilled: Peon, cleaner, sweeper, security guard, housekeeping staff, washer man;

 Semi-skilled: Counter sales personnel, Assistant Store keeper, Launder, Junior/Assistant clerk;

 Skilled: Engineering Assistant/ Supervisor, clerk, office assistant, accountant, cashier;

 Highly Skilled: Office supervisor or administrator, senior clerk, checker, production manager.

The minimum rates of wages and Variable Dearness Allowance, if any, both constitute the minimum rates of wages and shall be enforceable under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
