The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on June 29, 2019, has extended the timeline for compliance of the labelling requirements for ‘Frozen Desserts or Confections with added Vegetable oil or fat and/or vegetable protein’ according to the provisions of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Thirteenth Amendment Regulations, 2017 for a period of six months.

The timeline for the compliance related to frozen desserts was given till January 01, 2019 and then further July 01, 2019 due to the rise of issue of nomenclature of these products under these Regulations. The FSSAI has received representations from a section of stakeholders requesting for further extension of time for compliance.

Therefore, the FSSAI has decided to further extend the timeline for compliance of the labelling requirements for frozen desserts or confection products for a period of six months that is upto January 01, 2020 or till further order, whichever is earlier. The Food Business operators are required to comply with all other standards and labelling provisions for the said products.
