Ministry of Road Transport and Highways publishes Draft Rules to amends Rule 81 of Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on June 18, 2019 has published Draft Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2019, to further amend Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which specifies fees.

The Objections and suggestions will be taken into consideration after the expiry of a period of 30 days from the date on which the copies of this notification as published in the Gazette of India are made available to the public that is June 18, 2019.

Objections and suggestions to these draft rules, if any, may be sent to the Joint Secretary (MVL),email: [email protected], Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Transport Bhawan, Parliament Street, New Delhi110 001.

Under Rule 81, after the first proviso the following proviso shall be inserted, namely:

Provided further that, for the Battery Operated Vehicles as defined in rule 2(u); the items given at sl. no. 4 of the below mentioned TABLE shall be exempted from the payment of fees for the purpose of issue or renewal of registration certificate and assignment of new registration mark.

These rules will come into force on the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette
