FSSAI seeks comments from stakeholders on proposed Notification of food import entry points

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on June 17, 2019, in order to put in place a robust food regulatory framework at the point of entries to prevent the entry of sub-standard or unsafe food into the country, it is proposed to notify 132 point of entries as per enclosed list covering seaport, airports, ICD, LCS and SEZ as food import entry points. The list has been compiled based on food imports data of past years received from DGCI&S and CBIC. FSSAI has made all efforts have been made to cover the various regions of the country from where major food imports are currently taking place.

To facilitate ease of doing business while ensuring the mandate of safe food imports in India, the comments and suggestions are invited from all the stakeholders before finalizing the food import entry points. The comments and suggestions may be sent to Director (imports), FSSAI, FDA Bhawan, New Delhi by August 15, 2019, at email id. [email protected].
