Ministry of Labour and Employment declares services engaged in the Iron and Steel industry to be a public utility service for a period of six months

The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) on June 10, 2019, has declared the services engaged in the Iron and Steel industry, which is covered under item 7 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, to be a public utility service.

MoLE has lastly declared the said industry to be public utility service for the purposes of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, for a period of six months from December 20, 2018 vide Notification No. S.O. 6209(E), dated December 18, 2018.

Therefore, for public interest MoLE declares the services engaged in the Iron and Steel industry to be a public utility service for a period of six months with effect from June 20, 2019.
