Requirements for issue of Commercial Pilot License and Airline Transport Pilot License to Defence Personnel

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on May 14, 2019, specifies the requirement for issue of Commercial Pilot license and Airline Transport Pilot license to Defence Personnel . The applicants have to pass the written and oral examinations and skill sets conducted by Central Examination Organisation (CEO).

Additional requirements are:

• Flying training, for seeking aircraft rating on any civil registered aircraft shall be as per syllabus prescribed in applicable Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) for endorsement of aircraft rating or as approved by Flight Standards directorate.

Defence pilot who do not hold any civil pilot license shall have to obtain SPL from FTOs or from DGCA (in case the flying is undertaken at other than FTO) before commencing the flying training on any civil registered aircraft.
