UGC issues guidelines for engaging Senior Academicians or Officers as Distinguished Visiting faculty in Higher Education Institutions

The University Grants Commission (UGC) on June 03, 2019, has issued guidelines for engaging Senior Academicians or officers as Distinguished Visiting Faculty (DVF) in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

The guidelines for Senior Academicians or officers are:

 This type of faculty may be designated as “Distinguished Visiting Faculty”

 The senior academicians, senior government officers, senior industry personnel and eminent personalities who have made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant/applied disciplines are eligible to be invited as DVF.

 The DVF shall be from outside the concerned University or Institution.

 The proposal to invite the DVF may be initiated by the concerned school or department. The invitation may be extended with the approval of the ViceChancellor or the Head of the institution.

 An honorarium of Rs. 5000/- per lecture of one-hour duration may be paid to the DVF.

 The DVF can be invited for a single or series of lectures

 The General Development Fund of the Universities or HEIs may be used for paying the honorarium.

 The travel and other expenses may also be paid in addition to the honorarium.
