DGFT amends the import policy of bio-fuels

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on May 24, 2019, has made amendments in import policy of biofuels under Chapter 22 which specifies the import policy for beverages, spirits and vinegar, 27 specifies the import policy for mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes and 38 specifies the import policy for miscellaneous chemical products of ITC (HS), 2017, Schedule – I (Import Policy).

Effect of the Notification: Policy condition providing for free import of bio-fuels by actual users is deleted. Import policy of bio-fuels is “restricted” for all purposes and its import will require import licence from DGFT.
