SEBI issues Circular permitting FPI to invest in municipal bonds

The Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on May 08, 2019, has issued a Circular to notify that the Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPI) are permitted to invest in municipal bonds in accordance with the provisions of SEBI (Foreign Portfolio Investors) Regulations, 2014.  The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had already issued a Circular No. 33 dated April 25, 2019 permitting FPIs to invest in municipal bonds and now SEBI has also permitted the FPIs to invest in municipal bonds.
