Implementation of reservation of 10% seats for the EWS candidates by enhancing PG seats and undergraduate seats in Medical colleges

The Medical Council of India (MCI) on April 18, 2019, has requested Secretary In-charge of Medical Education and Health Department of all the states to send the proposal regarding the increase of 10% Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota on the seats for the academic year 2020-21 not later than May 15, 2019.  

It is also requested to send the proposal regarding the 10% increase in MBBS seats under EWS scheme in consultation with the concerned institutions for the academic year 2019-2020. The increase of 10% EWS quota should be on the seats that stand recognized on the day of submission of the proposal. The colleges to ensure that the additional facility required for the increase as per the Minimum Standards Requirements for the Medical College for 50/100/150/200/250 Admissions Annually Regulations, 1999 shall be put in place by the time increase in intake capacity of the college comes up for recognition. The college-wise MBBS seat increase proposal to the Board of Governors, MCI should be received in the council office not later than May 15, 2019.
