MoLE revises the rate of Variable Dearness Allowances for different industrial workers

The Ministry of Lobour & Employment (MoLE) has revised the rates of Variable Dearness Allowances (VDA) for different industrial workers on the basis average consumer price index number for the proceeding period of six months ending on December 31, 2018 reaching 301.33 from 288.33 (Base 2001-100) and thereby resulting in an increase of 13 points for industrial workers and direct that this order shall come into force with effect from April 01, 2019.

The rates of VDA have been revised for the employees employed in:

• Agriculture

• Mines

• Construction or maintenance of road or runways or in building operations including laying down underground electric, wireless, radio, television, telephone, telegraph and overseas communication cables and similar other underground cabling work, electric lines, water supply lines and sewage pipe lines.

• Stone mines

• Employment of sweeping and cleaning excluding activities prohibited under the Employment of Manual Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Prohibition) Act, 1993.

• Watch and ward (with and without arms)
