Ministry of Commerce and Industry prohibits on import of milk and milk products from China

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry on April 23, 2019, has prohibited the import of milk and milk products from China, by making amendment in ITC (HS) 2017, Schedule 1 (Import Policy).

The Prohibition on import of milk and milk products (including chocolates and chocolates products and candies or confectionary or food preparations with milk or milk solids as an ingredient) from China is effective till April 23, 2019 as per the Notification No. 46/ 2015-2020 dated December 24, 2018.

The matter has been reviewed and the prohibition on milk and milk products, including chocolates and chocolates products and candies or confectionary or food preparations with milk or milk solids as an ingredients from China is extended until the capacity of all laboratories at ports of entry have been suitably upgraded for testing melamine.

Effect of the Notification:
