Maharashtra Government extends the date of filing returns without payment of late fee till April 30, 2019 for the period of April, 2016 to January, 2019

The State Government of Maharashtra on March 30, 2019, has extended the date of filing monthly or annual returns without payment of late fee till April 30, 2019 for the period of April, 2016 to January, 2019.

The State Government of Maharashtra vide Trade Circular No. 6T of 2019 dated January 14, 2019 and Notification No. PFT-2014/CR-38/taxation dated August 21, 2014, has exempt the whole of the late fee payable by the registered employer in respect of monthly or annual returns pertaining to periods April, 2016 to January, 2019, subject to fulfilment of eligibility conditions.

However, The State Government of Maharashtra extends the date of filing returns, they are as under: 

Eligibility Conditions:

i)Any amount payable as per return should have been/shall be paid on or before due date.

ii)The employers should submit the monthly or, as the case may be, annual returns pertaining up to March, 2019 on or before April 30, 2019.

Revocation of Late fee exemption: If it is found that the employer has not fulfilled the conditions or has submitted false information to avail the benefit of exemption then, his exemption of late fee shall be revoked and action will be taken against him as per the provisions of law.
