DGFT considers the applications for grant of authorization for import of gold dore

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has decided that for obtaining BIS License, only applicants having NABL certification, will be considered for 1 MT of gold dore.  

Trade Notice No. 14 dated August 24, 2017 was issued to notified that with effect from June 01, 2018, only those applicants will be considered for grant of authorization for import of gold dore where applicant refinery hold a valid license from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Before obtaining BIS License, the refinery has to be National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accredited. The NABL has clarified that no gold dore is required for getting NABL certificate.

However, new applicants who have already obtained NABL certificate are representing to allow them to import gold dore for obtaining BIS license. It has been decided by the DGFT that new applicants, having NABL certification, will be considered for 1 MT of gold dore for obtaining BIS License. Subsequently, no further authorization will be granted to these applicants without BIS License.
