FSSAI has extended the date of implementation of an Order regarding disposal and collection of used cooking oil

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on February 28, 2019, has extended the date of implementation of an Order regarding disposal and collection of used cooking oil.

FSSAI, vide Reference Order dated January 30, 2019, had previously issued directions to Food Business Operators (FBOs) whose consumption of edible oils for frying was more than 50 litres per day would maintain the usage records and dispose used cooking oil to agencies authorized by FSSAI or the Commissioner of Food Safety of States or Union Territories from time to time. The Order was directed to come into effect from March 01, 2019. 

In order to ensure adequate mechanisms for authorization of agencies and collection of used cooking oil, FSSAI has decided to defer the implementation of the order by three months that is till May 30, 2019 and FBOs to comply the order by June 01, 2019.
