Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, toxins and Residues) Third Amendment Regulations, 2018

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on December 24, 2018 has published Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, toxins and Residues) Third Amendment Regulations, 2018 to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, toxins and Residues) Regulations, 2011.

Draft Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, toxins and Residues) Third Amendment Regulations, 2018 was published by the FSSAI vide Notification No. F.No. 1- SP(PAR)- Notification-pesticide/stds-FSSAI/2017, dated December 27, 2017, inviting objections or suggestions from the persons likely to be affected thereby, before the expiry of the period of thirty days from the date on which the copies of the Official Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public i.e. January 08, 2018.

Therefore, after considering the objections and suggestions received from the public in respect of the said draft regulations, FSSAI made following amendments in the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, toxins and Residues) Regulations, 2011, namely:

In Regulation 2.3 regarding Residues, the entire sub-regulation 2.3.1, which specifies restriction on the use of insecticides, shall be substituted.
