FSSAI extends the time line for compliance of Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Second Amendment Regulations, 2018

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on December 31, 2018 has extended the time line for compliance of Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Second Amendment Regulations, 2018 up to April 01, 2019 or till further order, whichever is earlier.

Reference has been drawn to Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Second Amendment Regulations, 2018 published vide Notification No. 1-100/SP(PAR)- Notification/Enf/FSSAI/2014 dated July 20, 2014, in which transition period of 5 months i.e. up to January 01, 2019 was given to the food operators to comply with the Regulations.

However, based on the representations received from various stakeholders highlighting some important technical issues, the time line for compliance of Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Second Amendment Regulations, 2018 has been further extended by the FSSAI up to April 01, 2019 or till further order, whichever is earlier.
