Maharashtra Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act, 2018

The State Government of Maharashtra on December 14, 2018 has published the Maharashtra Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act, 2018 to further amend the Maharashtra Value Added Tax Act, 2002 and to replace the Maharashtra Value Added Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018 on October 24, 2018.

The following amendments in the Maharashtra Value Added Tax Act, 2002 are as under:

In Sub-section 7 of section 23 which specifies the provisions for Assessment:

·         For the words “eighteen months” the words ‘‘twenty-four months” shall be substituted;

·         In the proviso, for the words “eighteen months” the words “twenty-four month” shall be substituted.

The Maharashtra Value Added Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018, shall be hereby repealed.

Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken (including any notification or order issued) under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act, as amended by the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done, taken or, as the case may be, issued under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act, as amended by this Act.

It shall be deemed to have come into force on October 24, 2018.
