Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Thirteenth Amendment Regulations, 2018

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on November19, 2018 has published Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Thirteenth Amendment Regulations, 2018 to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.

The draft of the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2018, were published by FSSAI vide Notification number F.No.stds/m&MP/Notification(02)/FSSAI-2016, dated February 22, 2018, inviting objections and suggestions from the persons likely to be affected thereby.

Whereas objections and suggestions received from the public in respect of the said draft regulations have been considered by FSSAI and published final regulations i.e. Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Thirteenth Amendment Regulations, 2018.

The following amendment in the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011 are as under:

In regulation 2.1 relating to “DAIRY PRODUCTS AND ANALOGUES”, after sub-regulation 2.1.20 relating to “Edible Lactose”, the following sub-regulations shall be inserted, namely:

·         2.1.21 Milk Protein Concentrate: This Standard applies to Milk Protein Concentrate;

·         2.1.22 Whey Protein Concentrate: This Standard applies to Whey Protein Concentrate;

·         2.1.23 Standard for Cow or Buffalo Colostrum and Colostrum products: This Standard applies to colostrum and colostrum products.
