Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions (Amendment) Regulations, 2018

The Medical Council of India (MCI) with the previous sanction of the Central Government has made amendments to the “Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations 1998.

In the “Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1998”,

1.       in Schedule – I, Clause 4A: Determination of equivalence of the qualification of DNB (Broad Specialities) with MD/MS & DNB (Super-Specialities) with DM/M.Ch. shall be added after Sl. No. 4.

2.       in Schedule 1, clause 6 as amended vide notification dated June 05, 2017, shall be substituted with the following :-

“The teachers in a medical college or institution having a total of 8 years teaching experience out of which at least 4 years teaching experience as Assistant Professor with two research publications in indexed journals gained after obtaining postgraduate degree shall be recognized as post graduate teacher in broad specialties.

In case of super specialties only those teachers who possess 6 years teaching experience out of which at least 2 years teaching experience as Assistant Professor gained after obtaining the higher specialty degree shall be recognized as post graduate teacher.”

3.       all the provisions related to equivalence of DNB qualifications in the notification dated November 03, 2010 and June 11, 2012 stand repealed.
