IRDAI’s Circular on PUC Certificate at the Time of Renewal of Insurance of Vehicle

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has issued a Circular dated July 6, 2018, reiterating the directions given by the Supreme Court of India vide its Order dated August 10, 2017, which directed General Insurance Companies not to insure a vehicle unless it has a valid Pollution under Control (PUC) certificate on the date of renewal of the insurance policy.

IRDAI has directed Insurance Companies not to insure a vehicle unless it has a valid PUC certificate on the date of renewal of the insurance policy. Vide the Circular, IRDAI has instructed General Insurance Companies to comply with the above directions and confirm having noted the contents of the Circular.
