The Labour Department, West Bengal, vide its Order Labr/880/(LC-IR)/IR/3C-04/2015 dated August 29, 2017 had introduced "Comprehensive Inspection Policy - 2017" for carrying out inspections under all or any of the laws being administered by the Labour Department..

Now, the Governor has added the following provisions to the above said policy:

A.      Under the Boilers Act, 1923, any surprise inspection or inspection based on complaints or inspections during special drives, collection of statistics et cetera, should be conducted on being directed by the Head of the Directorate and / or the Head of the Department. In no other instance would any inspector of Boilers visit any premise without prior approval from concerned authority.

B.      All inspections (except in case of complaint-based inspections) shall be carried out strictly in accordance with the checklist for inspections notified by the concerned Directorate from time to time. This shall come into immediate effect. All concerned are hereby being informed accordingly.
