NPPA revises Ceiling Prices for Coronary Stents

National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA) vide circular dated February 12, 2018 has revised the ceiling prices of coronary stents as under:-

·       Bare Metal Stents (1 Unit)- Rs. 7660/-

·       Drug Eluting Stents (DES) including metallic DES & Bioresorable Vascular Scaffold (BVS)/ Biodegradable Stents (1 Unit) - Rs. 27,890/-   

The ceiling price specified above shall be applicable from February 13, 2018.

All the manufacturers of coronary stents, selling branded or non-branded of both BMS & DES versions at prices higher than the ceiling price shall revise the price of all such stents downward not exceeding the ceiling price so fixed.

All the manufacturers/marketers of coronary stents having MRP lower than the ceiling price shall continue to maintain in accordance with paragraph 13 (2) of the DPCO, 2013

The manufacturers may add goods and services tax only if they have paid actually or if it is payable to the Government on the ceiling price

The ceiling price for a pack of the coronary stents shall be arrived at by the concerned manufacturer as per provisions contained in paragraph 11 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013.

The manufacturer shall issue a price list in Form–V from date of Notification as per paragraph 24 of the DPCO, 2013 to NPPA through online IPDMS and submit a copy to State Drug Controller and dealers.

The ceiling price specified above under Para 13 shall be applicable till March 31, 2018.
