Draft the Aircraft (……Amendment) Rules, 2018

Ministry of Civil Aviation vide notification dated March 13, 2018 has issued draft Aircraft (……Amendment) Rules, 2018 amending the Aircraft Rules, 1937. Vide this amendment, in Schedule II

A.      In Section Q-

                                    I.          In Paragraph (1) sub-paragraph (c) shall be substituted which reads as- He shall produce evidence of having satisfactorily completed as pilot of an aeroplane on the date of application for the rating-

(i)       not less than one hundred hours of flight time as a Pilot-in-Command of an aeroplane of which not less than twenty hours shall have been completed within a period of eighteen months immediately preceding the date of application; and in the case of helicopters, not less than fifty hours flight time as a pilot-in-Command of a helicopter of which not less than twenty hours shall have been completed within a period of eighteen months immediately preceding the date of application; and

(ii)     not less than twenty hours of flying training as an Instructor under an approved Flight Instructor/Examiner as per the syllabus prescribed by the Director-General.

B.      In Section R-

                                       I.       in paragraph 1, for sub-paragraphs (f) shall be inserted which reads as- After completing the experience requirement as laid down in sub-paragraph (c), the applicant shall undergo a Flight Instructor’s Course approved by the Director-General before undergoing the skill test as mentioned in sub-paragraph (e) and shall provide evidence of the following :

(i)       having received instructions in flight instructional techniques including demonstration, student practices, recognition and correction of common student errors; and

(ii)     Having practised instructional techniques in those flight maneuvers and procedures in which it is intended to provide flight instruction.

                                     II.       Paragraph 3, shall be substituted which reads as- The Flight Instructor’s Rating may be renewed on receipt of satisfactory evidence of the applicant —

(i)       having satisfactorily completed not less than twenty hours of flight time as a Flight Instructor within a period of twelve months immediately preceding the date of application for renewal; or

(ii)     Having satisfactorily completed a Flight Instructor’s refresher course approved by the Director General and the flying tests within a period of six months immediately preceding the date of the application for renewal.
