Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2018 related to Oils

The draft of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2018 to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011, which the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) proposes to make with the previous approval of the Central Government, is published for the information of all persons likely to be affected.

In the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011,

·       in Regulation 2.2.1 relating to OILS,

1.        for clause 6, Rapeseed oil (toria oil) or mustard oil (sarsonkatel) is substituted,

2.       after clause 24, new clauses are inserted for Avocado oil, Palm stearin, Palm kernel stearin, Palm kernel olein and Palm Superolein.

·       in Regulation 2.2.6 relating to ‘HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OILS’, after sub-regulation 2.2.6, the sub-regulations for FATTY ACID COMPOSITION and PEROXIDE VALUE OF OILS AND FATS are inserted.

The FSSAI will consider the said draft regulations after the expiry of a period of 30 days from the date on which copies of this notification as published in the official gazette are made available to the public, that is April 14, 2018.
