Ministry of Road Transport and Highways vide notification dated April 10, 2018 has issued draft Central Motor Vehicles (…..Amendment) Rules, 2018 further amending the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. Vide this amendment, in Rule 50-
a. In sub-rule (1), clause (i) shall be substituted which reads as- The registration plate displayed on motor vehicle shall be suitable for hot stamping and reflective sheet has to be guaranteed for imperishable nature for minimum 15 year. Previously the guarantee period for imperishable was 5 years.
b. In sub-rule (1), first proviso shall be substituted which reads as- Provided that the security licence plate including the third registration mark, wherever necessary, shall be supplied by the vehicle manufacturers along with all the vehicles manufactured on or after January 01, 2019 and their dealers will place a mark of registration on such plates and affix them on the automobiles.
