Copper Mining Industry to be a Public Utility Service

The Central Government, in public interest, had made the services in Industry ‘Copper Mining Industry’ which is covered by item 13 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 to be a Public Utility Service for the purpose of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from 26th August 2016.

Now, the Ministry of Labour And Employment is of opinion that public interest requires the extension of the said period by a further period of six months and has declared the ‘Copper Mining Industry’ to be a Public Utility Service for the purpose of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, for a period of six months with effect from 26th February 2017.
