Staff Reporter, Electronic gadgets has indispensable part in urban and in rural life as well. Round the clock people in majority of time remain in touch or in coverage of the electronic gadgets. Surprisingly the comfort and ease comes from these gadgets comes from these electronic units turning in to threat when it becomes out of order or replaced due to some malfunctioning. As repairing of these units generates some waste commonly known as e-waste. Jabalpur market being window for the Mahakoshal region has biggest base of electronic market so as the biggest originator for the e-waste. In majority the small or general scrap dealers purchases e-waste with household, commercial areas and institutions and separate this waste in sorting through breaking the items. According to the assessment approximately every month e-waste worth in crores are being generated in cities but still the remain untapped. To fetch the valuable items like Aluminium, Copper, Iron and Steel, Compressor from Motor, Wires, etc. the e-waste is burnt causing huge losses to the system. Yet scrap dealers are operating business in unorganised way. Dismantling and separation of E-waste occurs in a major way at large scrap dealers that are not even having license or system to dismantle e-waste. Proper management of e-waste have become a critical issue. In cities as well as in villages the e-waste is causing pollution to great extent. From villages nearly cent per cent is getting dumped in to shelves of people or burnt by local scrap buyers. In Madhya Pradesh situation is serious right from at primary areas like education of identification of e-waste amongst citizen, proper sorting and management facilities, no linkage of buyers even after having mandatory provisions for electronic companies to buyback e-waste. According to the initiatives taken to control pollution caused due to e-waste the Government of India Ministry of Environment and Forest have issued guidelines for the Madhya Pradesh State Pollution Control Board. In this MPSBC has been given task to follow the first E-waste guidelines issued to regulate by preparing an e-waste inventory in State. Implementing directives in this MPPCB have initiated some study in four divisions and the project is still continued. Views of Eminents Gajendra Singh Nagesh Chief Executive Officer of the Jabalpur Smart City Project, Gajendra Singh Nagesh added that in Jabalpur Smart City the prime facia the task of cleanliness have been taken with due seriousness. With varied initiatives to manage domestic and solid waste in proper manner a serious view on the e-waste is also being given. We are working on forming a system and finding a dealer who has license and system to take e-waste management for proper disposal. With some entrepreneurs working in buying and selling of used gadgets, scrap of electronic and other such articles the JSCCL has proposed and invited them to Jabalpur. In days to come with various attractive offers and plans the Jabalpur Smart City project would give a permanent and solid solutions. Besides this for education of citizen on e-waste an extensive programme mewould be initiated soon. Dr Kant Clement Gaikwad Dr Kant Clement Gaikwad, an Environmentalist opined that e-waste is posing a serious threat to the eco-system of the vicinity of Jabalpur. As we are approaching towards smart developments with Smart City works. As an environmentalist, I urge the netizens of Jabalpur to show deep concern about the hazards that can affect adversely to whole entire ecosystem of the city. Seeing the quantum of e-waste in houses proper e-waste management is the need of the hour to dispel the darkness of ignorance regarding E waste disposal. Nagesh Rao Nagesh Rao a fitness trainer opined that for health people are opting more smart and intelligent gadgets to monitor their heath but are equally ignorant towards disposal of electronic items when it becomes out of order. As keeping electronic items also creates unhealthy atmosphere in the place they are kept as. People should understand that the gadgets that helps in making our life easy and comfortable, gives us entertainment and fitness can be hazardous if not properly disposed. Deepak Rajput Deepak Rajput, a social worker opined that as per the recommendations of Environment Ministry efforts should be initiated in city. On priority the inventory of electronic items of different brands should be changed as per guidelines of buying back the ewaste on the electronic product manufacturers extensive action should be taken. While an extensive awareness program for dealers, scrap buyers and sellers should be initiated to manage e-waste keeping environmental health on priority by stopping burning of ewaste to bring out metals. Vivek Vishwakarma Vivek Vishwakarma, a citizen said as per belief prior to festival of Diwali we whitewash our house and at that time some scarp of electronic items also comes out and we sale it as scarp. But in majority only small items are being sold while majority of items were kept again on shelves or in storerooms. We don't expect that the expensive electronic items purchased by us, when it turned off and become out of order was a scrap and also got purchased in scrap market at the price of scrap.
